Youth cricket match reports

Weather fails to dampen Parley little legends quest for glory.

Superb efforts on and off the pitch this morning for our final game of the U11 season.

Alan,Adam and Lucy had everything under control despite some early morning car issues for the management team. Pitch set up,Cafe open and players warmed up.

Senior Parley executives(The chairman, 3rds manager, and inspirational youth guru Alan Graham) had turned up. The clouds and forecast were looking menacing. Would dreams be realised or left shattered in the soggy outfield?

Luckily, the kids had a rain preventing blanket, and Adam was scoring so what could possibly go wrong?

Despite some misty, drizzly conditions the Parley u11 little legends were put in to bowl. Going about their business in a very professional manner……. wickets fell regularly.

Fin and Viraaj setting their field and ignoring all guidance from the boundary. Inspired managerial intervention reset mid on and mid off, and right on cue Viraaj took a lovely catch off Finlay to remove one of the openers.

Theo removed his plaster cast, stopped laughing at his Dad's attempts to score on play cricket, and decided he could bowl after all, despite his horrific shoulder injury.

Two marvellous wickets followed as we further demonstrated what a good side we have turned into. Poole are a good side who have also beaten Wimborne and Bournemouth this season. This was setup for a close game.

Ethan was playing mind games with the tail end batters. Sowing doubt in their minds as the drizzle got worse. Ollie and Tunal got their obligatory wickets, and both have proved so reliable bowling this season.

Top bloke Viraaj was lacking with the Indian street food for breakfast this morning, and was dropped down the bowling order as a result 😉 When he was finally unleashed on the unsuspecting batsman he was getting incredible turn and bounce, and helped finish off the innings with two more wickets.

We would be chasing 81 for the win.

The rain was threatening. Chairman Steve placed Harry's Dad Alan in a half nelson and demanded the covers were brought on. But in a fortunate U-turn and change of heart decided they could come off again and Alan was spared further injury. The game resumed.

Michael was dismissed quite early off a great ball. No need to be down. Cricket can be tough, and he's made some amazing contributions this season.

Harry and Viraaj were in the middle. Batting like we were chasing 500 in a 5 day test match, but I will concede it was effective. Gradually we knocked off the runs and were within sight of victory.

Aayush was poised. Ready to go out there and seal the win. Viraaj retired. Harry hit a couple of boundaries. Aayush had his cameo and finally the win was ours.

A great end to a fabulous season, with lovely children and great parents.
